I've spent more than a decade learning and researching what works and what doesn't for my Autistic son, Dylan, and I would like to keep sharing more videos with you all, but also take it one ste...

My brother finally accepted what I was saying. His son was autistic and he needed to get him evaluated. After the diagnosis, he was devastated. I kept saying it's a different way to experience the world. I knew. I was autistic. Not "strange" or "weird" as everybody thought. Autistic as I had been self diagnosed at the time. And had kept it to myself. So I was a bit offended by his reaction but again said nothing. Few years later went for a formal diagnosis. Passed the tests with flying colors. Doc was really impressed with the small booklet I had compiled with all the symptoms. In retrospect I'm glad my parents never knew. Okay I didn't get any help but at least I spare them the worries.

My 2 year old son is autistic. Didn't respond to his name, in his own world and always on the go, constant redirecting didn't help. 2 month of drastically changing his diet resulted to coming to me when calling his name, he now follows directions, he waits for me to lock the front door when leaving, he can now sit and play independently for 15 minutes at a time, more aware of his surroundings. I completely cut out dair, added sugar, and processed foods almost entirely. We look forward to our grocery shopping at the farmers market every week. Non gmo, no pesticides, no food coloring, and straight from the source honestly. At bath time I alternate between Epsom salt and Epsom flakes, with borax,

3 years later, is your son aiming for A*A* in A-Level Maths and Further Maths sat in Year 10, and 1, 1 in STEP 2 and 3 sat in the GCSE year (Year 11) rather than the year it is usually sat (Year 13), and aiming for Oxford or Cambridge?

A really tough situation. I'm glad my mom never new I was autistic. Spare her the worries. On the contrary she was impressed with our "superpowers" Coz we have some to compensate for what we are lacking, to some degree. It's not all doom and gloom. But I obviously missed all the help you are providing to your child.

My son is 9,5. Almost 10. I was a single mom even married to his dad so we divorced when my son was 4. I guess I was in deniel for some years, we never really bonded, my son and I, bad birthing experiance, a bad relationship with dad lead to a bad relationship with my son. Only when he turned 5 I started to read books and hunt down the internet about autism and started to understand him better. Really excepting what he has is still a process I believe. I feel the loss some days still, when I see parents speaking to children who actually answere.. Haha It's such a normal thing for most parents, they take it for granted and play on their phones while their children are shouting to have a look mum, what I'm doing.. but for some it would mean the world to hear a "Mummy, look!" from the child.. He isn't potty trained. He still speaks in his own language. It's a good thing me and his loving stepdad understand the language cause I've been around. I wouldn't have a clue how anyone else will understand him in the future. I worry about him. He has a 2 month old sister now. I hope she'll have a good heart for her brother in the future and look out for him when we are gone.

Can't believe you had a second child because you thought it would be good for your first, autistic child to have a playmate whom you think would always be there for him, as if the second child is an emotional support dog or something without its own needs and wants. Did you ever think whether the future second child would want to have your oldest as their brother or benefit from having an older sibling with (severe) autism? This is like people who have a really sick child taking a second child hoping that the second child can be an organ donor or stem cell donor to the older, sick child. Many siblings of children with (severe) autism suffer. Don't be surprised if your second child doesn't want to be best buddies with your oldest, or not past (early) childhood when they get old enough to have friends in the neighbourhood/from school.
